Senapati DC T Pamei who led demolition of 22 structures including a church in an eviction drive at Senapati DC road on December 22 has stated that he has not received any court order staying the eviction.
The action was necessary as Government plans to broaden the road, he said adding that if he had received the order, he would have honored the court ruling.
Pamei said that the land where the 22 structures stood belongs to government and the eviction was done after serving proper notice.
Previous DCs have been giving temporary permit to use the land, he said and added that several sections of people have lauded the eviction.
Meanwhile, a meeting of political leaders and occupants of the demolished homes held today at the site took very seriously the act of the DC and decided to file a contempt of court against him on December 28.Henry Paote, Convenor Senapati District Political parties Forum, Solomon Vino, BCP State vice-president were among those who attended the meet.
